Riot Releases Championship Viewing Numbers

We already knew that things were spinning out of control during the League of Legends Season 2 World Championship. But today the viewing numbers were released, and those don’t disappoint either…



Riot Redbeard released some interesting numbers, which show how massive the World Championship really was. At its peak more than 1,154,000 people were watching Riot’s online streams; this already impressive number doesn’t even include the TV viewers from China and Korea. Worldwide more than 8,282,000 unique viewers watched championship matches on either their computer or television screen. Over 24,000,000 hours of LoL were watched during the playoffs and finals!



Riot also made this recap video to reflect once more on this great accomplishment.







Without viewers there is no eSports, something that Riot seems to understand better than its predecessors. The League of Legends community has helped to prove this statement for once and for all.
