IPL 5 League of Legends Day 1 Recap
Today we started our coverage of this weeks mammoth tournament IPL5 encompassing StarCraft 2, League of Legends and Shootmania, which we don’t cover.
Opening ceremony opened with the voice of Shaco (Adam Harrington) getting the crowd in the mood with player introductions, not only was it Joe and Deman starting the day there were other casters in a packed tourney like Red Baron, Hatperson, Phreak, Jatt, Optimus Tom, and Studio! Ultimately IPL 5 is going to be an event that has great commentators and a lot of production value behind it.
The games were just the same! We saw action in most of the group stages that happened during the day. When the group stages were announced most people thought that Group D would be the group of death, because of the world champions Taipei Assassins and European power house Moscow 5.BenQ. Team World Elite have proven their hard-work is paying off with large signs of improvement, they pushed the envelope into a first place finish in their group and the shocking factor of Azubu Blaze placing 3rd.
Overall the most important match in the group stage to watch was, truthfully the work of WE.WeiXiao and the all-round team work of WE which caught Azubu by surprise and made Azubu lose out on the first match in as many times in America.
The most important Winners Bracket match that happened Day 1 was Moscow 5 vs Team WE. The momentum of WE destroying Azubu came to push WE even more by clean sweeping Moscow 5 2-0 in surprising fashion. The teamplay of WE was a step above and beyond what Moscow 5 could have done during the matches, even with Moscow 5 on some of their strongest champions it was just not enough for them to continue on. Although out of the Winners Bracket they still have a chance during the loser’s bracket to keep moving on!
Overall the best stories of IPL 5 have to be World Elite’s dominant fashion, but the side story has to be the European teams are in all 4 matches of the winners bracket. Curse EU coming strong after winning Tales of the Lane even though Pat0y is subbing as player for them. Counter Logic Gaming EU 2-0 TSM to move on to 2nd winner’s bracket match have shown to be really strong, and Fnatic just off the back of Dreamhack are on a roll as well beating Azubu Blaze (Albeit a defeated Azubu Blaze after losing to WE).
Altogether there are so many story-lines to look forward to in this weekend, and so many games to watch and look out for! If ever you need a guide to it check back for more information!
Otherwise this is just a short glimpse of the bigger picture that is the IGN ProLeague Season 5 Championship! Day 2 will resume today at 1PM EST/6PM GMT on IPL LOL (twitch.tv/ipllol).
