PLAYSTYLE



With individually some of the best players in Europe, Alternate is dangerous from any position. ‘Araneae’ brought a lot of experience to the team, with ‘Creaton’ they became more dangerous on their bot lane, relieving pressure for ‘ForellenLord’ and ‘Kerp’ on mid and top lane. Their biggest problem and disvantage is their teamplay and a rather young and fresh team. Their AD Carry joined them a month ago, their jungler joined them in January of 2013, and still they’ve managed to qualify for the EU LCS Summer Season. With the time passing by, they are more than capable of improving that aspect of the game, which can make them one of the best in Europe. LCS ODDS



With a huge champion pool and their great individual skill, they are already capable to pull off big upsets. If they manage to improve their coordination and their teamplay, they can not be understimated by anyone. It’s hard to predict on which place they will end up at the end of the EU LCS Summer Season since the room for improvement is huge. With current playstyle they would be struggling for the 6th place, but if they manage to improve Europe will get another contender for the Championship. Their players are individually already proven as a world class skilled players, and the only one who can stop them from getting better as a team are themselves.

After “The Kings of Europe” this tournament will be the chance to crown the new true European Champions where every country can compete to prove their skills. While the online Group Stages and Brackets are not yet determined you can already mark the 23rd and 24th of November in your calendar with a “MUST WATCH” note. At those two days the determined TOP 8 teams will battle it out in Kaunas, Lithuania, at the staggering, 15,000 seating-capacity Zalgirio Arena!



Each country in Europe will be able to represent itself with its National Team in League of Legends (5on5). First though – a National Team manager of each country will have to be chosen and approved by the National ESL branch. The National Team managers will then have the right to form their National Team.





REPRESENTED COUNTRIES



Only National Teams from geographical Europe can participate at the ITB European Nations Championship:

• Every player on the National Team has to be a citizen of the country he/she is representing at the ITB ENC.

It appears that, in cases of extreme disagreements and the subsequent poor behaviour, Riot will take the standpoint that players should have adhered to the pick order of champion select, providing a solid basis to report players for the toxic behaviour often seen in champion select.





Pick Order vs Call Order



The lack of a definitive role selection system has divided the community since the games release, two conceptual ideas had been spawned to solve this, pick order and the lesser followed call order, however neither complimented the other, and a toxic player would simply opt for whichever method benefitted them at the time, providing no real solution.



After weighing up the pros and cons of both, pick order has been chosen as the preferred method due to:

• Players with faster load times shouldn’t have an unfair advantage in Call Order
  
• Pick Order occurs naturally in the current design, so it’s more intuitive
  
• Over time, players get an equal number of opportunities to be each pick slot
  
• Players shouldn’t have to race to type a position at the start of each match

The reasons behind the decision serve to disprove call order’s legitimacy, rather than clarify the need for a system, showing that a system is certainly required in Riot’s view. However, this begs the question; why has it taken this long for Riot to endorse a system? Without it, there was a tribunal blind spot where unfriendly and disruptive behaviour went unpoliced, and with such a large playerbase, moderation flaws like that negatively affect a sizeable number of players, with no recourse.





Communication and Cooperation is King



Despite endorsing a role selecting method, Riot were quick to point out that this is not a strict rule that would be enforced, but rather a back-up plan to minor disputes. In the event that multiple players desire the same role, the higher pick should gain precedence, however, the primary solution should always be communication. This is something that Riot Socrates echoed in his posts:

Communication is both the cause of the problem, and the solution. In an ideal situation, a team will happily distribute roles to those most comfortable, willing and able – however a much more common reality is disputes, a lack of complete co-operation, and for that scenario there was no right or wrong. At the very least, this announcement provides a fallback where someone can be right, and a solution can be met.



Will the clarification of an underlying system really help communication? This is an attempt from Riot at improving user experience in well-known troubled area, following ongoing discussions in the “Let’s talk about Champ Select” thread on the official forums. PLAYSTYLE



The team relies on getting their AP and AD carries off to a good start, making their games exciting to watch, but also risky for the team to play, since they rely on their carrys to make the plays. Even tough the players on the team have a lot of individual skill, their team plays can be a problem further down the road, while they are facing teams who have been together for a long time. They try to counter this by having their players use a big champion pool, making them both unpredictable and dangerous to ban and play against. LCS ODDS



The team has a fair chance to keep up with the “bigger names” in the LCS, since some of their players have experience playing for some of the best teams in Europe. Their play style and big champion pool hold the keys to the teams success and also to pull off big upsets. They have already proved their value by beating aAa the team who finished 6th in the Spring Season. Despite this they can’t be considered one of the favorites for this season, but have a big chance to finish 6th place or higher. My personal prediction is a 5th place finish.

The five teams will compete in a three-stage elimination bracket, with Southeast Asia earning a bye to Round Two due to their victory in the Season 2 World Championships. The two initial match-ups will be:

• Group A: North America vs China
  
• Group B: Europe vs Korea

The losing teams of Group A and B will face off for a chance at redemption. The winner will meet up against the winner of Group B in the semifinals.

Additionally, there will be an All-Star 1v1 and 2v2 (AD Carry and Support) Competition between the players of the game’s five primary roles on a custom map:

An undisclosed number of teams from each of the world’s leagues will be sent to the Season 3 World Championships. However, it has already been announced that the victorious region at the All-Star Tournament will gain the advantage of having an additional team from their region participating. The best four regions will receive a bye into the elimination rounds, while the last place region’s representatives will have to fight it out through the group stages.



The Southeast Asian region is protected from fifth place due to securing a bye into the semifinals by succeeding in Season 2. As such, their top-seeded team is already guaranteed entry into Season 3′s World Championship elimination rounds.

PLAYSTYLE



They are famous for playing with the teleport on their mid laner, which makes them unpredictable, and of course a split pushing team. Their champion pool is huge, especially in the jungle and in mid lane. A lot of people consider ‘Czaru’ as a star and the best player in their team, but all of their members are good and consistent players. MYM is an experienced team, with the same roster for almost a year. Their chemistry is awesome, their understanding of the game as well. LCS ODDS



With their experience and their playstyle, they are more than capabale of making upsets by beating top teams in EU LCS. Although many people think that top five teams in Europe will for sure finish on top five places, upsets are more than possible. With MYM and two other new teams in EU LCS, competition is higher and better. Difference on the scoreborad should not be that huge as in LCS Spring Season. We can not consider MYM as one of the favourites in LCS, but they are more than capable to qualify for the Summer Playoffs by finishing on a 6th place or higher, which is also my prediction for them.

The fairytale showed signs of continuing, following impressive wins against Counter Logic Gaming and Team SoloMid, however, Team MRN were ultimately not consistent enough throughout the season and found themselves in 7th place at the Summer split. The Cinderella story has now met it’s end, with the 3-2 loss to Velocity eSports at the Summer Promotion event. MRN relinquish their position in the LCS and have subsequently opted not to continue as a team.



Martin ‘Marn‘ Phan released a blog providing very interesting insight into the pressure on the LCS teams going into the match:
